Use case

RS485 bus connection for building automation

The adapter is intended for situations where the automation system needs a reliable RS485 connection, for example for Modbus RTU devices. The solution fits Bithouse automation and device systems as well as customer-specific implementations.

  • 2 RS485 buses per card
  • Typically used with Modbus RTU
  • Software-selectable bus settings
  • For building automation and light industrial environments

Key Features

A compact bus adapter for clear field connectivity

Magio Mini RS485 is designed as a practical bus connection where installation, cabling and diagnostics are straightforward.

Two buses

The card has two RS485 buses. Serial ports can be named, for example, as Modbus 1 and Modbus 2 buses.

Bus settings from software

Master/slave mode, speed, parity, bit count and stop bits are selected in software.

LED diagnostics

RX and TX LEDs indicate data moving on the bus and packets sent from the card.

Connectors and cabling

Clear connections for buses, ground and termination

Connections are arranged by bus, and the card has markings for receive, transmit, biasing and termination. The A-/B+ terminals tolerate a wiring error to 24 V DC.

1A-, 1B+

RS485 bus 1.

2A-, 2B+

RS485 bus 2.

1C, 2C

Ground, GND / 0 V DC, through a 100 ohm resistor.

RX1 / RX2 and TX1 / TX2

LEDs for data moving on the bus and packets sent from the card.

BIAS+ / BIAS-

Manually selectable bias resistors.

TERM

For bus termination.
